Look at your body of work over the semester and choose 2 pieces that show your growth as an artist. Discuss each piece and how you grew in the following areas: application of materials, techniques and skills, artistic vision, use of the principles and elements, creativity, intuition and subject matter. With My still life project i think my shading has gotten way better with objects and Im really proud of my ability to show form in that drawing and how i took my time to make sure it was proportional and fit in the space of the paper well. I think its a good shot and the items meshed well together.
With My Self portrait i am VERY proud! This is one of the best human drawings I've done. Im not good at facial features or proportions but here thats what i'm most proud of. It Could be better but Im proud of my color blending and how proportioned the face is and how defined the features are.
Choose 2 mini lessons that you felt were the most beneficial in your learning for that particular project. Include photos of these and explain thoroughly. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success? The Facial Features and Prism-a color cones and spears lessons were great help to me when it came to doing the final project for both of these units. Ive never been great at adding depth to facial features so those lessons really taught me how and when i practice adding value to shapes with the prism-a colors i was able to us them well with shading and using more than one color to add depth to and object like the ice cream cone.
Discuss one project where you felt you were the least successful. Explain why you felt this way. What would you do differently to change this piece? Explain This was by far the hardest to me simply because i didnt fully grasp the skill of making something see through or drawing plastic. I think i used the charcoal well but as far as the main part of the project which was to give the illusion of seeing through something it just doesn’t look see through in my opinion and i would practice that more if i could and change that about my piece.
How do you describe your artistic style/perspective? How do you define success as an artist? What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What are some of the most important skills you draw upon to create your work? What are some of the most significant things you've learned through art-making? I think Im into drawing objects and foods more than places and living creatures. I want to be able to give emotion to art when its just a object. And make people feel something by just looking at an assortment of things. I also like bright colors and darker tones for backgrounds. One of the most important skills i use is adding depth with color blending or pencil. Also being able to arrange objects in a certain way.
